Protect Your Information
We want to alert you of an increase in phishing and vishing scams targeting individuals just like you. Phishing and vishing are common forms of social engineering where cybercriminals deceive individuals by pretending to be from trusted organizations, such as your financial institution, in order to steal and gain access to your personal and financial information.
Below are steps on how you can protect yourself from becoming a victim of these attacks:
- Be Skeptical: Don't trust unsolicited messages or calls.
- Verify Source: Always check the sender's email address, caller's identity, or phone number. Scammers often use email addresses that look very similar to official ones and are now able to duplicate official phone numbers to appear as if the call is coming from a legitimate source. If you are unsure about the call, call back using known official numbers.
- Don't Share Personal Info: Never give out personal information such as your Social Security Number unless you are certain of the recipient's identity.
- Avoid Clicking Links: Don't click on links in unsolicited emails or texts. Type the website address directly into your browser.
- Check URLs: Hover over links to see the real URL. Secure sites start with “https://” rather than “http://”. The “s” in “https” stands for secure.
- Don't Open Attachments: Avoid opening attachments from unknown sources.
- Use Security Software: Keep antivirus and anti-malware software updated.
- Enable Multi-Factor Authentication: Use multi-factor authentication (MFA) to add an extra layer of security on your account(s).
- Keep Software Updated: Regularly update your operating system and software to patch security vulnerabilities.
- Educate Yourself: Stay informed about the latest scams and phishing/vishing techniques.
- Report Suspicious Activity: If you receive a suspicious email, call or text claiming to be from Coast360 or any of your service provider, please report it immediately. Do not respond or click any links.
- Use Call Blocking: Enable call blocking or filtering on your phone to reduce spam calls.
- Check your account regularly: Monitoring your account frequently helps you spot unauthorized transactions or suspicious activity quickly.
- At Coast360, member security is our top priority. We will NEVER call, email, or otherwise contact you and ask for your account or personal information. We will NEVER ask for your security verification code and it should NEVER be shared.
